How often are meters read?

ALPUC is reading meters monthly. Problems found when reading the meters including broken meters, which are then repaired, and meters which are running, with no one home meaning there is possibly a leak.

Please note: if your meter is running when it is read and it does not stop running within a reasonable period of time, the meter reader will knock on your door and/or look for lights, a vehicle, or some evidence that someone is home. If no one answers the door, and there is no evidence that the house is occupied, your water service will be disconnected for your protection. The $15 reconnection charge will apply. If you are leaving your water running to prevent pipe breakage, you may want to consider additional insulation measures.
